The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 100,000 times in 2011. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 4 days for that many people to see it.

(Meander back to my first Blogiversary!)

There have been a quite a few changes to the  list in the past year.  The most viewed recipe has not previously appeared in the top ten and only three recipes remain from last years list.  Last year I wondered where Fragrant Marmalade Cake would reach after twelve months as it had a large number of views in its first month.  Here is the answer: still popular, it is at No 2.  Will it every get to No1, I wonder?

I have continued to post both family recipes and new discoveries from magazine articles and the many books I own or get from the library.  However, for every one I post there are more in the pipeline, so watch this space!

Thank you for reading this post and for visiting my meanderings especially if you have commented, voted, subscribed or linked to me. I do hope that you will continue come back again in the coming months to ‘Meander through my cookbook’ with me!  Do sign up on the right hand side to be sure of receiving every post I make.

2010 in review

This information is in addition to my personal review of 2010.

The stats helper monkeys at WordPress.com mulled over how this blog did in 2010 and here’s a high level summary of your overall blog health:

About 3 million people visit the Taj Mahal every year. This blog was viewed about 51,000 times in 2010. If it were the Taj Mahal, it would take about 6 days for that many people to see it.

In 2010, there were 125 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 233 posts. There were 202 pictures uploaded, taking up a total of 120mb. That’s about 4 pictures per week.

The busiest day of the year was December 23rd with 300 views. The most popular post that day was Sherry Jelly Berry Trifle although the most popular post of the year was Baked Tomato Stuffed Marrow.

Where did they come from?

The top referring sites in 2010 were ukfba.co.uk, nigella.com, google.co.uk, search.conduit.com and search.bt.com.

Some visitors came searching, mostly for stuffed marrow jamie oliver, marmalade cake, stuffed marrow, beetroot chutney and mince pies.

‘Meanderings through my cookbook’ was officially launched one year ago today.  I started adding recipes and transferring posts from my other blog in the few weeks prior to this date, but it officially went live on 1 April 2009.

In the past year there have been:
Posts – 150
Comments – 41
Total Views (midnight, 31 March 2010) – 11,372
Highest number of views in one day – 160 (21 January 2010)

The most viewed post of my first year is:
Australian Spiced Roast Pork – 687 views

'Meanderings through my Cookbook' http://www.hopeeternalcookbook.wordpress.com

Followed by:
2.    Creamy Pasta with Bacon & Courgettes – 608
3.    Divine: Heavenly Chocolate Recipes with heart: … – 390
4.    Roast Lamb with Orange & Rosemary – 387
5.    Basic Recipe: Simple Tomato Sauce – 339
6.    Courgette & Lentil Gratin – 318
7.    Double Salmon & Avocado Pizza – 303
8.    Tarte au Citron – 254
9.    Spanish Style Pork & Peppers – 244
10.  Raspberry Bakewell Pudding – 240

(This list is unchanged from the top 10 most viewed recipes of 2009 and it will be interesting to see how it changes in the coming months.)  Most recipes listed have been posted for a number of months so have had plenty of time to attract viewers, however rising rapidly though the ratings is Fragrant Marmalade Cake which was posted this year on 5 March 2010, so less than a month ago.  It has already reached number 13, attracting 168 views in a few short weeks.  I wonder where it will be at the end of the calendar year, or when I celebrate my second Blogiversary?

In the past year I have posted many of our favourite family recipes, plus some newly discovered ones which I fully intend to make again and in some cases have done so already. There are more recipes waiting to be posted plus lots of ideas to try out.

Thank you for reading this post: thank you for visiting my meanderings: I do hope that you will come back again in the coming months to ‘Meander through my cookbook’ with me!

On this first day of 2010 I thought it would be interesting to list my top ten: the most viewed posts of 2009, bearing in mind that ‘Meandering through my cookbook’ has only been possible since the start of March. Purple Foodie has done something similar, I notice, listing her top viewed Savoury and Sweet posts.  PF has also listed her favourite foodie books of 2009: perhaps something I could do another year …  As you can see, I liked her idea of using nine (in my case ten) pictures as an illustration!

My most viewed posts of 2009
(nine recipes & a book)

1.  100_2332-Australian spiced roast pork  2.  100_3982 Creamy Pasta with Bacon & Courgette

3.  100_2534-lamb-with-orange-and-rosemary  4.
