I keep a good well stocked storecupboard and could not possibly list everything. However I plan to put items I would not be without on this page, in some cases with brand and stockist information if this is needed. Do keep an eye on the shelf life information on ingredients. In some cases, I find it helpful to freeze ingredients I do not use very often.

Tins of plum tomatoes (value brands are fine!) This seems like an obvious item but is probably one of my absolute essentials. However I never buy the more expensive chopped plum tomatoes. Instead, I either roughly chop with a knife, or kitchen scissors or, for a finer chop, put them in my Kenwood mini chopper. Posts/Recipes
Tins of Beans & Chick Peas: Red Kidney Beans, White Haricot Beans, Butter Beans, Black eye peas, Chick peas – what would we do without these!
Vinegars: Red Wine Vinegar/White Wine Vinegar/Cider Vinegar also Clear & Brown Malt Vinegar: I find these invaluable for making dressings and substituting, using a very small quantity, in recipes requiring wine (when I do not have a part bottle available – we are not big wine drinkers). Fruit flavoured vinegars can be made by mascerating fruit in the chosen vinegar: ie raspberries & white wine vinegar. Posts/Recipes

Parmesan cheese, I use Grana Padano rather than the more expensive Reggiano. I am sure there is a difference but neither I nor my family are connoisseurs enough to know! Once opened, it can be grated and stored in the freezer – Read more here. Posts/recipes
